Falcon – Ready To Roll

The wait is finally over!

After a lot of hard work and development we are pleased to announce that our D0280 “Falcon” RTR is now available! We have a number of upgrades landing on this loco on top of all the usual features you have come to expect from our RTR range that definitely make this a bit special.

In our quest to make ever more realistic models, we felt Falcon was a fantastic opportunity to really push the boundaries of what could be done in our scale and potentially the majority of our diesel RTR in time too. One of the first upgrades that separates this model from the standard RTR range is the addition of Twin Flywheels, this is something we’ve been eager to add for a long time as we have incorporated them in some previous limited runs a few years back now, but this one is the most effective design to date.

Those of you that went straight to the pictures will have probably noticed the next upgrade quite quickly! The Falcon comes equipped with directional lights in the form of a backlit headcode boxes and tail lights both ends as pictured below. This is the very first loco we have done to feature directional lights, it is something that in time we want to make the “norm” in the RTR range, or at very least make it so as much of our range as possible is ‘ready to fit’ without cosmetic modifications, but getting back to the Falcon it really does change the whole feel and look of the loco. We have also produced a set of waterslide transfers to accompany the backlit headcode box to ensure you get the full effect of the lighting when you finish the loco.

The next addition is another first for us, the Falcon loco comes DCC Ready with an 8 pin decoder socket fitted (Bypassed for DC by default), making it a simple task to add a decoder at any point in the future. While in general DCC layouts are arguably in the minority in 3mm, we are always looking to future proof our models as best we can, its very much our aim moving forward to make as much of our range plug and play for DCC as we can, starting right here!

So the final collection of upgrades comes in the form of detailing, we’ve included printed and painted Falcon emblems that can be plugged into the loco after painting, as shown on our fully finished Falcon pictured below, we’ve even included some spares in case you lose one! Next on the list is Windows, these are always one of the trickier components to produce and even worse to make by hand! so the Falcon comes with all windows ( 2 x cab windows, 6 x bodyside windows) to help make life easier. The last two elements are additional details, all our RTR range come with bespoke detailing packs, the Falcon has the addition of roof fans (pre-painted) to sit under the fan grills to gently add a pop of colour and interest to the roof of the loco, plus we have added cab interior detail to both ends of the chassis, one end even incorporates your very own little Lenny the loco driver!

As you can probably tell we are really proud of this one, we hope that it has been worth the wait, we will be doing a run of 10 locos only at this moment in time, the price is as follows:

    1. As far as we know there are no readily available chassis for the Claud, it would maybe be worth speaking to the 3mm Society to see if either they or Alan Doherty (which i believe they are now in procession of now) have made any etched chassis that would do the job for you.
Sorry I cant offer anything more concrete for you.
