Diesel Chassis – Phase 2 & 3

As most of you will be aware, one of our biggest projects in 2021 has been the Class 24 Ready-To-Roll diesel chassis, which formed the first phase of our diesel chassis project, due to popular demand we ended up extending the run beyond the original run of 10, all of which have now been built and sent out. We are really pleased with how well received the 24 project has been, it has been a key stage in the evolution of the design and development of the chassis and is a huge step towards our goal of creating a standard design that can be applied to all suitable locomotives.

The second phase of the project is now well under way, incorporating a number of upgrades to the core design, with the Class 37 & Class 42 being two of the first locos to receive the new design, but we will be applying the design to all suitable classes over the next few months, you can register your interest on the contact page here.

Class 17 “Clayton” Fitted with dual power bogies

Phase 3 of the chassis project is a modular 8’6″ motor bogie, designed specifically for smaller locos and DMUs where the larger central drive is too bulky, the motor bogie will be available with frames to suit Classes 15/16/17/20 where required and offers a cost effective solution to power a model with the correct wheelbase, pricing as follows:

1x 8’6″ Power Bogie, including bogie frames (where required, specify class) – £44.50

2x 8’6″ Power Bogie, including bogie frames (where required, specify class) – £84.50

We will be adding the power bogies to the website in the coming weeks, along with more details on the second phase chassis development and more pictures too, watch this space.

  1. When I was a child my train mad father took us on holidays to Dawlish. Firstly there were Kings, then Warships and finally Westerns. I always loved the Sun airships. I note you have a prototype. When might full production begin? Chris

  2. Hi Lenny
Are the motor bogies available yet as I can’t find them on the site. I would like a pair with class 17 frames and a Clayton body.

    1. Hi John,
The motor bogies are available to order but aren’t on our website currently, we will put you down for a pair for the Class 17 and drop you an email once they are ready.

Were you after a pair of power bogies or a power & dummy ?
